Is this legal?

Yes! All owners are aware and have given consent for their property to be used for a shared accommodation purpose. We are registered and work closely with local council and Consumer Affairs who do routine inspections to make sure we are abiding by all relevant legislations. All bonds are lodged with RTBA as required by law.

Do I need to bring anything when I move in?

All the common facilities including the bathroom, living/dining room, laundry and kitchen are fully furnished by YSVG. Bedrooms are generally unfurnished however some bedroom furniture (bed and wardrobe) is available on request. Bed linen including sheets, pillows and blankets are not supplied.

Can I bring my pet?

Maybe. Each house is different; we assess all requests for pets on an individual basis and make sure it is ok with all tenants and the owner prior to answering.

Are couples allowed?

Yes! We are open to couples moving in and to partners joining a tenancy at a later date during the lease. A small flat fee of $50 p/w is charged for a second person.

What kind of people will I be sharing with?

YSVG tenants come from all walks of life. Generally, our market includes males and females aged 18-40 that are either locally born or international visitors. Several properties are targeted by students, however the majority are tenanted by working professionals. Our success in providing a happy and functional home is due to accurately matching the right tenant to the right property.

As an owner, is my property still insured if it becomes a share house?

Yes! At YSVG, our properties are classified as Residential 1B. This means that your normal home and content insurance policy will still cover the property. A few insurance companies may charge a slightly higher premium so please double check with your provider.
